The awards are judged by an independent panel of expert judges drawn from the IT industry, journalism and academia. One of the judges, Dave Cartwright, said:

"We felt this is a product that brings risk management out of the stratosphere and into the real world for the average business. What particularly impressed us is the sheer usefulness and readability of the system output; it's cleverly laid out, and the graphing systems give excellent overview information."

The award reinforces Citicus ONE's position as the world's most advanced tool for managing information risk. Developed with help from 15 of the world's top companies including Powergen, Standard Bank of South Africa and ST Microelectronics, Citicus ONE helps key decision makers to fully analyse and understand information risk so that they can focus investment and resources where they are most needed.

Based on the Information Security Forum's well-proven FIRM (Fundamental Information Risk Management) methodology for managing information risk, Citicus ONE gathers data through easy-to-complete scorecards that measure the risk status of critical business applications, computer installations, networks and systems development activities. The web-based software is fully-compliant with BS7799 and can be installed on an organisation's intranet or accessed as a managed service that is hosted by Citicus.

Simon Oxley, managing director of Citicus says:

"We are all delighted to receive this important award that gives recognition to the effort put in by Citicus and its launch partners to create a solution to the increasing problem of information risk management. With greater threats from hackers, viruses and terrorists and the growing impact of corporate governance initiatives such as Turnbull, Sarbanes-Oxley and Basel II, organisations are under a lot of pressure to be more proactive in managing the risk of their IT systems."
