The highly-valued Editor's Award gives special recognition to an
innovative new product, company or individual. In making the
presentation, SC Magazine Editor-in-Chief, Ron Condon said: "We
took suggestions from members of the editorial team on both sides of the
Atlantic and also sought the opinions of our independent product
reviewers. There were many worthy candidates with highly innovative and
effective technologies. In the end, we decided to give the Editor's
Award to a British company, Citicus.
"Citicus ONE's function is to help company managements
focus their efforts and investments where they will be most effective
and where they can drive down risk. In this respect, we felt, it tackles
one of the most fundamental challenges of the information security
profession today, which is to prove a return on investment."
The award reinforces Citicus ONE's position as the world's most
advanced tool for managing information risk. Developed with help from 15
of the world's top companies including Motorola, Standard Bank of South
Africa and ST Microelectronics, Citicus ONE helps key decision
makers to fully analyse and understand information risk so that they can
focus investment and resources where they are most needed.
Based on the Information
Security Forum's well-proven FIRM (Fundamental Information
Risk Management) methodology for managing information risk, Citicus
ONE gathers data through easy-to-complete scorecards that measure the
risk status of business applications and e-commerce initiatives, computer
installations, networks and systems development activities. The web-based
software is fully-compliant with BS7799-Part 2 and can be installed on an
organisation's intranet or accessed as a managed service that is hosted
by Citicus.
"We are all delighted to receive this important award that gives
recognition to the effort put in by Citicus and its launch partners to
create a solution to the increasing problem of information risk
management," said Simon Oxley, managing director of Citicus. "With
greater threats from hackers, viruses and terrorists and the growing
impact of corporate governance initiatives such as Turnbull and Basel
II, organisations are under a lot of pressure to be more proactive in
managing the risk of their IT systems."
Other award winners at the
ceremony included PGP, Symantec, RSA and Check Point.
